• Meet the Artisan Fire Starter, it's more traditional in style and also includes one of our Stealth Fire Strikers. Designed from scratch and made using heat-treated Steel, this striker will surpass all of your Ferro Rod needs and also performs as a scraper/prying tool, spanner, and bottle opener.
• The Artisan also comes with a piece of natural fatwood. Fatwood is renowned as one of the best natural fire starters, it boasts remarkable water resistance and high flammability. Using the Ferro Rod striker and the Fatwood you can practice processing Fatwood into shavings. This is an invaluable fire-lighting skill and provides the base for mastering the art of fire-craft using natural resources.
• Includes hardwood wood-turned handles, designed to be easily gripped. The handles have been sanded and sealed with multiple coats of natural wood oil to protect against water and highlight the natural grain.
• The Ferro Rod is made using Forest Fundamentals Ferrocerium; the perfect balance of softness and durability. Our Ferro Rod blend produces large showers of molten hot sparks at 3,000º C (5,500º F). The largest size rod allows for 20,000 strikes. Imagine how many matches you would need to light 20,000 fires!
• Our Stealth Fire Strikers are made from heat-treated Stainless Steel. The strikers include 4 hex bits, a beveled straight-edged tinder scraper/prying tool, and also functions as a bottle opener, a pretty handy feature when sitting around a campfire! See our shop for more info.
